St John’s reopening for public worship

We are pleased to say that St John’s will be reopening for regular services of public worship later this week following the end of the latest national lockdown restrictions. After a month where we have been unable to have services in church it will be really good to welcome everyone back for Advent services counting down to Christmas.

Licensing of Rev Gareth Howles

The first service in church will be the licensing of the Rev Gareth Howles as our new Priest in Charge on Thursday evening. Coronavirus restrictions mean we have had to limit the number of people who can attend in church. We know that there will be many people who will want to join the service from home so we are filming the service and will be sharing it online as soon as possible after the service. We hope you will be able to watch it from Friday morning.

Weekly services

From next Sunday (6 December) we will resume weekly services in church. As before, we will have one weekly Parish Communion service at 9:30am every Sunday morning. We are still working towards resuming our previous pattern of Sunday worship but hope that members of all our congregations will be able to continue worshipping all together in church until that can happen. We will also continue to have a Dial-in Holy Communion on Wednesday morning at 9:30am and a Dial-in Coffee and Prayers at 11am on Friday mornings.

Life events

When lockdown ends, Farsley will remain under Tier 3 coronavirus restrictions which means there are limits on some of the other services which can take place. Wedding services can go ahead, with 15 people attending alongside the couple and the minister. Funerals can take place with up to 30 people attending and christenings can also take place.

Christmas services

We also have several extra services planned during Advent with the theme of bringing Comfort and Joy to those who are able to attend. Further details will follow later this month.

We are following all the latest coronavirus advice. Our building is safe and we hope you will feel able to join us in person. We will also continue to provide services online and we pray that however you are able to join us in the coming weeks our worship together will be a real blessing.
