You are warmly invited to join us to Follow the Star at St John's at our special Christmas services this year as we inspired to look for moments of both Calm and Bright.
We have a range of services we hope includes something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you are a regular in church, or join us less frequently, you are welcome to join us at any of our services.
Every Sunday
- 8:30am Holy Communion
- 10:30am Family Worship - usually Holy Communion but sometimes A Service of the Word, with Sunday School.
Sunday 1 December
10:30am - Advent Sunday Toy Service
A special service of Holy Communion as we mark the start of Advent when we begin counting down to Christmas. We will also be collecting donations of new and unwrapped toys to be given to St George's Crypt to distribute to families who are facing a challenging Christmas.
Saturday 7 December
10:00am - Carols, Coffee and Cake.
Enjoy a morning of Christmas Carols, washed down with warm drinks and some delicious festive cakes. This is definitely a relaxing moment of calm during a month of busy preparations for the big day!
Sunday 15 December
6:30pm Carols by Candlelight
A magical evening of where we retell the story of that first Christmas through readings and a selection of special carols which are choir have been rehearsing especially for this service. You'll arrive to a warm welcome and leave with a warm glow after hearing all your favourite Christmas music.
Sunday 22 December
10:30am Nativity Service with donkeys
Listen to the story of that first Christmas some 2000 years ago, told afresh complete with real donkeys. This is definitely one the children will enjoy. It might turn chaotic at times but it is a service you will remember!
Tuesday 24 December - Christmas Eve
4pm & 5pm Christingle Services
We have two opportunities for you to join us in church on Christmas Eve for a Christingle Service. Always a favourite with the children, they will enjoy collecting their decorated orange and learning the symbolism of the candle, ribbon and sweets as they get ready for Christmas Day.
11:30pm Midnight Communion
We will light the church up with the light of hundreds of candles and celebrate the first Communion of Christmas as the clock approaches midnight and we get ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Wednesday 25 December - Christmas Day
10:30am Family Worship
Start your Christmas Day with us in church for a short of family worship for Christmas morning which the children especially are sure to enjoy. Feel free to bring with you a special gift which you have received that you would like to give thanks for.
