You are warmly invited to Celebrate the Joy of Christmas at St John's this year with several special services that we hope will be a real blessing at this special time of year.
We have a range of services which we hope includes something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you are a regular in church, or join us less frequently, you are welcome to join us at any of our services.
Every Sunday
- 8:30am Holy Communion - a traditional service without hymns
- 9:30am ABC Church - for adults and babies with children
- 10:30am Family Worship - often with Holy Communion and our Sunday School for the youngest members of our church family.
Sunday 30 November
10:30am - Advent Sunday Toy Service
A special service as we mark the start of Advent when we begin counting down to Christmas. We will also be collecting donations of new and unwrapped toys to be given to St George's Crypt to distribute to families who are facing a challenging Christmas.
Saturday 6 December
10:00am - Carols, Coffee and Cake.
Enjoy a morning of Christmas Carols, washed down with warm drinks and some delicious festive cakes, a joyful morning sharing time together as we look ahead to a busy month of preparations for the big day!
Friday 12 December
7pm - An Evening of Candle Arrangement Making
Unleash your creative talents as we get together in the church hall to make some traditional candle centrepieces for our Christmas tables. Please contact Helen in the Parish Office to book your place.
Wednesday 17 December
5pm - Carol Singing at New Pudsey Train Station
We will spreading the Christmas joy with an evening of carol singing at New Pudsey Train Station. Our friends from St Thomas and St James' churches will be joining us as we serenade commuters returning from work.
Saturday 20 December
7pm - Carol Singing around Farsley's pubs and bars
It's the weekend before Christmas and Farsley will be bustling with festive party-goers. We will be singing carols around many of the pubs and bars, meeting in The Village wine bar at 7pm.
Sunday 21 December
10:30am - Nativity Service with donkeys
Listen to the story of that first Christmas some 2000 years ago, told afresh complete with real donkeys. This is definitely one the children will enjoy. It might turn chaotic at times but it is a service you will remember! Please join us in a nativity themed costume!
6:30pm - Carols by Candlelight
A magical evening of where we retell the story of that first Christmas through readings and a selection of special carols which are choir have been rehearsing especially for this service. You'll arrive to a warm welcome and leave with a warm glow after hearing all your favourite Christmas music.
Monday 22 December
6:30pm - Blue Christmas Service
We know that Christmas can be a difficult time of year for some people. Memories of loved ones who are no longer with us can be difficult. Other people may find Christmas a time of worry for other reasons. We will be coming together for this peaceful service that will be an opportunity to come together and support each other.
Wednesday 24 December - Christmas Eve
4pm & 5pm - Christingle Services
We have two opportunities for you to join us in church on Christmas Eve for a Christingle Service. Always a favourite with the children, they will enjoy collecting their decorated orange and learning the symbolism of the candle, ribbon and sweets as they get ready for Christmas Day.
8pm - Carol Singing around Farsley
With just hours to go until we celebrate Christmas we will be carol singing again around Farsley's pubs and bars. We hope to see you!
11:30pm - Midnight Communion
We will light the church up with hundreds of candles and enjoy the first Communion of Christmas as the clock approaches midnight and we get ready to celebrate the biggest joy that is the birth of Jesus.
Thursday 25 December - Christmas Day
10:30am - Christmas Morning at the Crib
Start your Christmas Day with a short service of family worship for Christmas morning which the children especially are sure to enjoy. Feel free to bring with you a special gift which you have received that you would like to give thanks for.
