Donate in church

If you are visiting St John's in person you are welcome to make a donation either in cash or using you debit or credit card.

Whether you in church for a personal visit when the building is open to the public, or to join us for worship at a church service, please remember that donations are not compulsory. You are not required to pay for visiting St John's. However, any donation you decide to make will be very gratefully received.

Cash donations

  • There is a plate on the table by the church door where you can leave donations of cash.
  • We do not pass the plate around during services, but you are welcome to place money in it before, during or after a service.
  • If your donation is over £30, please place your money in one of the Gift Aid envelopes so we can reclaim the tax already paid on your donation.

Card donations

We know that many people no longer carry cash so we have a card machine on the table by the church door.

  • Choose the amount you wish to donate and tap your card for a contactless payment or use chip and pin.
  • You can enter your details so we can use Gift Aid to reclaim the tax already paid on your donation.
  • Electronic receipts are also available.

If you choose to make a donation using any method other than cash you are invited to place a wooden heart in the collection plate as a token of your donation which is usually carried to the altar as a symbol of the church's offering.
