St John’s open for private prayer

First published on: 8th July 2020

We are pleased to announce that St John’s is now open for private prayer. You are welcome to visit our church building at the following times:

  • Sundays - 9:30am until 11am
  • Wednesdays - 2pm until 3pm

Please come in to enjoy the peace, take some time to pray and enjoy God's loving presence with you.

We would ask that you visit St John’s either on your own or with members of your own household or your extended household bubble only. Please do not arrange to visit in large groups.

We are working hard to make sure that our building is clean and safe for you to visit. Physical distancing and hygiene guidelines need to be observed at all times. Signs will help you to follow a one-way system, some pews will be out of use and hand sanitiser will be available for you to use.

Anyone coming to church is strongly advised to wear a face covering, whether they are coming for individual prayer, or for a service, and this will become mandatory on 8th August by law. There are a small number of people who for health reasons are exempted from wearing a face covering. Please speak to a churchwarden before you visit if you think this may apply to you or if you are unsure of the current advice.

Please do not come to church if you have tested positive for coronavirus and have not yet been given the all-clear, or if you have any symptoms which may be caused by Covid-19.

We are not yet ready to reopen for any formal worship but we are putting plans in place to do that in the coming weeks. We hope that later in August will be able to start a weekly service of Holy Communion.

Our online services will continue for the foreseeable future along with our weekly Dial-in Holy Communion on Wednesday morning and our Dial-in Coffee and Prayers on Friday morning.
