Asylum seekers' night shelter

For two weeks every year St John's provides overnight shelter in the church building for up to 10 destitute asylum seekers. The church is transformed and around 70 volunteers from the church and the wider community come together to make the guests feel welcome and at home.

As well as a bed for the night our guests also enjoy home-cooked food as well as social interaction and activities during their time with us.

At the end of the fortnight they move on to another church in the scheme which is an annual project run in collaboration with the West Yorkshire Destitute Asylum Seekers' Network (WYDAN).

If you would like to volunteer please contact us to find out more details.
